Lightning protection is a safety system that protects your business, home, plant, IT and most of all your people in the event of a lightning strike.
From warehouses, to residential apartment blocks, leisure centres, universities and hospitals our team have decades of experience protecting them.
Whether it be the design and installation of a completely new lightning protection system or the maintenance and testing of an existing one, our team can help.
As a leading exponent of the lightning protection industry and a founding member of ATLAS we have decades of in-house knowledge and experience encompassing all aspects of lightning protection and earthing.
- Structural lightning protection system (LPS) design
- Electrical LPS Surge protection design
- Assessment of the vulnerability of existing structures and electrical systems to lightning protection damage
- Risk assessment to BS EN62305
- Standards compliance advice
- Design Review
- Code of practice development
- In excess of 125 years expertise in protection over a multitude of buildings and structures.
Consultancy
Lightning is a natural event with an immense destructive capability, but with the correct lightning protection design your structure can be protected from damage.
Direct strikes can cause structural damage, destroy electrical installations and present a risk to life. Even the pulse generated from a nearby strike can be sufficient to disturb and damage the operation of electronic systems. Nevertheless protective measures can be used to mitigate the effects of even a direct strike.
Our lightning protection consultancy service gives you access to expertise that will reduce the vulnerability of buildings, valuable installations and implement optimum levels of protection.
System Design & BS EN 62305
All our designers have undergone extensive training with the British Standard BS EN 62305 at the core of their learning.
BS EN 62305 is a series of publications in four parts, all of which have to be taken into consideration when designing for lightning protection.
Replacing the previous standard BS6551 with a combination of new standards based on the recently introduced CENELEC (European) standards. BSEN 62305 is substantially larger than its predecessor and has been written and compiled by experts from around the world, containing some 475 pages it is more complex and covers a wider range of issues.
BS EN6230 (Part 1) General Principles. This is an introduction to the other parts of the standard and covers the General principles involved in the design.
Installation
Our highly skilled and experienced installations teams will ensure that your lightning protection installation is fully BSEN 62305 compliant.
At Bacons we acknowledge the need to design practical lightning protection systems which interfere as little as possible with the appearance of your building whilst still protecting you building from physical damage in the event of a lightning strike.
All of our projects are co-ordinated by our contracts team, who ensure that work progresses within the agreed schedules.
Risk assessments and method statements are produced to comply with the lates C.D.M, HSE requirements and all COSHH data is provided. All our engineers are extensively trained and certified.
